Surf fishing for Mudsharks
This isn´t your "regular" thing to do in Iceland, but who wants to do just "regular"? We promise this is different! With luck, we can hook into some serious fish like this one. Sometimes we win the battle and sometimes we don´t. Surf-fishing has gained increased popularity in the last few years, but is nowhere near as popular sport as in many other countries. Iceland, for surf-fishers, is practically unexplored territory.
Experienced angling guides pick you up at hotels and lodgings in the Hella-Hvolsvöllur region and take you on a surf fishing tour.
You need only bring warm outdoor clothes. Hiking boots are quite sufficient for footwear as you do not want to wade into the deep water at all. Waves can also be large and unpredictable.
Beginners or experienced anglers welcome. The most common catch is Mudshark (icelandic: háfur), reaching 100-120cm in length.
All fishing gear and tackle is provided. Each person will have access to two rods to increase the possibilities. Don´t worry - you do not have to hold them both at the same time - we also have rod stands.
And if there´s no fish, we´re sure to have fun anyways!
It takes about 20 mins. to drive from Hella to the beach. The tour will take approx. 5-6 hours. Late afternoon tours are very nice e.g. departing at 16:00. In the evening, the wind often calms down and the evening sun is stunning. Just come and enjoy!
For groups larger than 2, select 2 pax and then check the boxes below (Extras) for additional persons at a reduced rate.
